1980's Hit TV Series Creator Brings Back Puttin' on the Hits as Lip Sync Fundraiser for Autism.
The creator and consulting producer of the hit 80's television series Puttin' on the Hits announced today an agreement with Fundraising For autism Now (FAN) to license national Puttin' on the Hits Lip sync contests to raise money for autism.
Autism is a neurological disorder, affecting a person's ability to communicate and interact socially. According to resent research studies reported in Time magazine and on 60 Minutes, autism is clearly on the rise. "Today in the united states, autism Spectrum Disorders are a national health Crisis and Emergency. Despite the growth in the prevalence rate of autism being astronomical, funding levels for research and services are all but non-existent", stated President Lee Grossman of (ASA) autism of society of America.
FAN offers fundraising services and promotional concepts to national non-profit autism support and research organizations. Joy Ciolino a mother of a 21 year old son with autism founded the organization. Ms. Ciolino has been an active autism advocate ever since her son's diagnosis at the age of three. In 1992 she started the San Diego Chapter of ASA and served as President for the California chapter of ASA until deciding to dedicate her considerable energy as West Coast Regional director for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) in January of 2002. "I am hoping that many organizations from around the country will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and participate in the fundraisers to raise money for the support of individuals with autism", said Joy Ciolino, President and Managing Director for FAN.
Puttin' on the Hits fundraisers will be held at schools, youth centers, fairs, clubs, and other venues all across America with the winners having an opportunity to appear on the all new television series to air next year. According to the series Producer Wm. Randy Wood, "the time is right to reintroduce the Puttin' on the Hits Lip Sync Contests. The what is old is new craze now sweeping the country is supported by the overwhelming popularity of television shows like American Idol, The Next Best Thing, The Singing Bee, and others". Can't Sing, the Lip Sync Talent Search contests are an enjoyable way to bring together individuals of all ages to raise funds for research and educational programs, which strive to seek treatment and the eventual cure for this very mysterious disorder.
